Preparation before printing

There are a few things needed to be prepared before final production. If customers know what to expect and understand the time lines involved and can be prepared in advanced, it saves a lot of time.

The list of preparation is:

  • Art work format
Customers can design by themselves or get an independent designer to create their final art work copy. Early Bird Printing prefer the file format to be in Adobe Illustrator or PhotoShop files (or their compatible file format). We are able to transfer other formatted files, however, transfer of files usually takes about one day.
  • Art work layers
The copy may need to be adjusted before printing, so please do not merge any separate layers together if there are any layers.
  • Art work transmission
Early Bird Printing provides an interface in customer's account to allow their art works to be uploaded. However please be aware that there is a limit in the size of files we can accept: 20MB and only 3 files. If files are too large the customer may need to post them to us.
  • Check report
Early Bird Printing will send out its check report within 24 hours after receiving or converting the artwork. It is a standard service of Early Bird Printing and is at no extra cost. We use this to report any defects in the files we find. Please note we can not guarantee all the defects will be found.
  • Colour proof
Early Bird Printing will post or deliver in person a color proof to the customer, if the artwork includes full color pictures. This Color proof document needs to be signed and return back to Early Bird Printing office.
  • Deposit collection
Early Bird Printing require a deposit prior to production. Printing production will be activated after confirmation of payment.
  • Quote sheet and Order sheet
Early Bird Printing sends quote sheets by mail or Email. The quote includes a range of possible quantitys and prices customer may choose from. When a customer makes final decision, an order sheet will be sent to be signed by the customer, and will be returned back to Early Bird Printing office.
  • Factors influencing price

    The factors that influence our final price are listed below;

  • Production costs
This cost is set by the printing factory and is determined using the production quantity-price diagram. (see below).
  • Shipping cost
This cost is set by the international shipping company or post authority. It is determined by the shipping quantity- price diagram. (see below)
  • Shipping channel and package arrangement
Normally, Early Bird Printing will use two packages to deliver its goods from overseas. The first package will arrive within 21days from the day of confirmation via the fastest post channel: air post. The second package is within 2 months. So on our order form, Early Bird Printing asks how much printing work will be needed for the first two months. This amount will be arranged in first package. The price quoted will depend on this figure as well.
  • Collection and acceptance of your artwork

There are many different graphic design software programs available these days each using different file formats. Most graphic designers or printing companies choose one or two graphic application software programs to create or edit their customers artwork.

At Early Bird Printing, we use Adobe PhotoShop and Adobe Illustrator to process our client's artwork. We can accept all file formats from the Adobe company and edit them using PhotoShop and Illustrator. For the other file formats, we can convert them using the related application tools. However, we may not be able to guarantee it will be absolutely intact.

Your artwork can be posted, delivered in person or transferred through Internet or via email.

    Artwork check report

To ensure a high standard and quality in the final print, all artwork received from customers are subject to a check process. Staff of Early Bird Printing analyse the design and report any issues which may affect the final print outcome. For example, the resolution of a Bitmap Graphic may be too low, or two objects may not be aligned. The artwork check is included in the quoted price. However, any changes to your artwork will incur an additional design cost.
